Police: Broadway beating being investigated as homicide
Police say they are investigating the beating of a man outside of a Kingsbridge restaurant as a homicide.
It happened around 4:20 a.m. back on Oct. 2, in front of Parrilla Latina, a Latin American restaurant located on Broadway.
According to police, a group of about six people, one of them a woman, beat a 36-year-old man so badly that he was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital in critical condition. Police say the victim was later identified as Donell Soto.
Soto was recently pulled from life support by his family. Three people have been charged with gang assault, and police say they are looking for three more suspects.
Witnesses say before Soto was attacked, he got into a verbal altercation with a woman. They say he then pushed her outside the restaurant, and the group came to her side.
