Candidates who visited the Bronx and Brooklyn during the election
Throughout the election campaign season, many of the candidates visited both the Bronx and Brooklyn. Here's a look at who paid the boroughs a visit and when.
Bernie Sanders was the first to visit either borough beginning on March 31. Thousands of people crowded Saint Mary's Park in the South Bronx along with actress Rosario Dawson and Spike Lee, who introduced the Vermont senator. Sanders also campaigned in Brownsville, Brooklyn, rallying outside his childhood home with more celebrities by his side.

Hillary Clinton took a subway ride in the Bronx. The former New York senator rode for a couple of stops with Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. Diaz was also at Clinton's side at a rally in Co-op City. Clinton also rallied for women's issues at Medger Evers College in Brooklyn ahead of the April 19 primary.

Republican candidate Ted Cruz visited a matzo factory in Brooklyn and a Latino-Chinese restaurant in the Bronx, but was met with loud protesters.
John Kasich took a bite out of a classic Italian sandwich from Mikes Deli on Arthur Avenue and was met with lots of college students. The Ohio governor also went to a Borough Park school in Brooklyn and a matzo bakery in Williamsburg.
Donald Trump, however, didn't campaign in the Bronx or Brooklyn, but battled it out with Hillary Clinton right to the very end.
