P.S. 108 students pay tribute to Bronx veterans

Every year on Veterans Day, the students at P.S. 108 honor those who served the United States while learning about history from those who experienced it firsthand.
On Thursday, students celebrated early by singing songs, writing poetry and performing dances to show their gratitude to veterans in the community.
Veterans then shared their stories with students.
One veteran honored during the day's event was Joseph Garofalo - a World War II veteran who founded and curated the Bronx Veterans Museum. The Morris Park native died earlier this year at the age of 95.
Garofolo originally started the museum because he felt the community wasn't doing enough to remember veterans. Students say they won't be forgetting any time soon.
