Bronx trainer gives tips to burn off Thanksgiving calories

Star Fitness, located on Commerce Avenue, is helping Bronx residents burn off the calories from their Thanksgiving meals.
"The idea is to get your heart rate up nice and high," says trainer Marco Rivera. "And when I say nice and high, I'm referring to 120 beats to 140 beats per minute so that your body is in fat-burn mode."
Rivera says that 20 minutes of cardio burns roughly 200 calories, which is about 8 ounces of turkey or a serving of sweet potatoes.
He also says 20 minutes of working with battle ropes can burn about 200 calories as well.
River says that items like soup cans or milk gallons can be used for bicep curls, shoulder presses, lunges and squats.
Always consult your physician before beginning an exercise routine or diet, experts say.
