Santa's helpers bring holiday cheer to vets in Fordham

Santa's helpers brought some holiday cheer to residents and veterans living at a low-income facility in Fordham.
Workers from the Jericho Project and employees of Proskauer, a law firm that works with veterans, donated their time to help transform the lobby and community room at Kingsbridge Terrace into a festive wonderland. They brought in a Christmas tree and gifts for the residents.
"We are really trying to kick off the holiday season with beautifying the building and having a holiday lunch," says Tori Lyon, CEO of Jericho Project.
Kingsbridge Terrace is home to 76 veterans who were either homeless at one time or in need of low-income housing. Darold Cox, a Vietnam War vet, has lived in the facility for four years. He says he is thankful for those who think of people like him during the holidays.
Jericho Project plans to hold similar festivities in Manhattan and other parts of the Bronx. Organizers say they will be doing the same thing next year.
