Community Board 2 gets new manager

Community Board 2 has a new manager, and he's from the neighborhood.

Ralph Acevedo, a Hunts Point native, started the job on Monday, right before the radiator incident that killed two young children. A housing and homeless advocate, he says the tragedy was personal.

"I actually know people who live in that building, so it hit home for me," Acevedo says.

Housing rights won't be his only focus -- on a smaller level, Acevedo is working to get better signage for his office. He's also looking to develop a Community Board 2 website and find more ways to hold developers accountable.

Talking right outside his office to a Bronx couple searching for housing, Acevedo says he is honored to serve his neighborhood.
