NYPD collects 15,000 lbs. of food for Bronx pantry

Over 15,000 pounds of food has been donated to a Bronx food pantry to feed the less fortunate this holiday season, organizers say.
The donations were collected by the 49th Precinct and brought to the Bronx Jewish Community Center food pantry where they will be distributed.
The collection is part of the precinct's 'Food Drive Pickup' initiative, which helps collect food donations for pantries in the Bronx every year.
Organizers say they have been gathering donations since Thanksgiving.
Among the groups who helped the NYPD collect food donations are P.S. 83, P.S. 108, P.S. 105, Van Nest academy and Cub Scout Troop 162.
Those looking to give still have time. Organizers say all you have to do is drop your donation off at the 49th Precinct.
The effort has taken place for the past 11 years.
