Tenants from Sheridan Avenue sue landlord over conditions

More than two dozen Sheridan Avenue tenants have taken their landlord to court.
Tenants say they have a class-action lawsuit against Mike Silber, of the Sheridan Reality Corporation, LIC, over conditions at two buildings.
After a court order, repairs are already being done to the lobby areas of the buildings at 1221 and 1225 Sheridan Ave. Both buildings are also being treated for vermin, which tenants say is an ongoing problem because of the accumulating trash in the rear of the building.
Tenants say they have seen indications of some work that may be due to court appearances in the last two weeks.
According to the city's Department of Housing and Preservation, the buildings have a combined total of more than 200 violations.
The landlord and tenants are due back in housing court on Jan. 23.
