Best of the Bronx: Trio offers slam dunk program for kids

A trio of longtime friends from the Bronx transformed their time on the basketball court as kids into a program that is giving kids the chance to be like the NBA players they idolize.
Jessie, Jerry and Jeffrey grew up playing basketball in the school yard. The basketball court served as their inspiration for starting Baby Dunk, an association that holds basketball tournaments on a smaller scale. The trio says they wanted the kids to feel like they are in a league and be able to dunk the ball like the pros.
Shyir Banks Lark joined the program in 2014. He says it's great because it keeps him off the streets and out of trouble.
The Baby Dunk program uses back board adapters on the hoops, which enable the kids to dunk the ball. Participants say Jessie, Jerry and Jeffrey are role models.
The trio is hoping to find a sponsor for the program. Right now the three men are funding all of the events out of their own pockets. They are also working to get apparel to help make the kids feel like superstars.
