New FreshDirect HQ to open in summer 2017
The new 700,000-square-foot headquarters of the online grocery company FreshDirect is slated to open in Port Morris this coming summer, and News 12 The Bronx cameras got a sneak peak of the new facility.

The new 700,000-square-foot headquarters of the online grocery company FreshDirect is slated to open in Port Morris this coming summer, and News 12 The Bronx cameras got a sneak peak of the new facility.
Construction began in 2014 and ran around the clock for six days a week, officials say. The company had initially announced the plan in 2012, but faced protests from critics opposed to the development.
In addition to its 8 miles of conveyor belts, the plant will house packaging, manufacturing and distribution sites for both incoming and outgoing goods.
FreshDirect says it's already hired about 800 Bronx employees and plans to take on more.
