Many of the city's traffic lights are changing from green to red too abruptly, a new study has found.
According to AAA, researchers visited two dozen lights around the city, and every one of them stayed yellow for less than three seconds. The standard time for a light to remain yellow is three seconds at a 30 mph intersection.
Researchers say the quick switch from green to red could be trapping more drivers into a ticket at intersections equipped with red light cameras.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) called the study bogus and said that red light cameras operate with a 0.3 second delay so that minor variations don't result in violations.
