Jack-knifed tractor-trailer cripples Cross Bronx traffic

A jack-knifed tractor-trailer brought traffic to a standstill on the Cross Bronx Expressway.
The disabled truck temporarily shut down the westbound side of the highway, near Weeks Avenue, as well as one eastbound lane at around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The accident caused bumper-to-bumper traffic with significant delays reported all the way to the New England Thruway and on the George Washington Bridge.
The truck also leaked fuel across the roadway, which emergency crews spent nearly an hour cleaning. Initial reports say at least 50 gallons spilled.
The FDNY says no injuries were reported.
All lanes are now open with traffic moving again.
