Volunteers, residents clean up Throggs Neck community

Residents of the Throggs Neck Houses showed off their local pride with a cleanup day Friday.
Volunteers joined members of community board 10 and the NYPD's police service area eight explorers to collect trash and debris from around the complex.
The Department of Sanitation donated garbage bags, brooms, rakes and shovels.
Monique Johnson, of the Throggs Neck Resident Council, says cleaning the community in a unified effort creates a stronger community.
