Man charged in BX shelter director's death misses court

The man accused of killing a homeless shelter director waived his right to appear in court today.
The attorney for West Spruill, who is a convicted felon, says his client refused to show up for the preliminary hearing. Spruill, 39, is accused of murdering Ana Charle. Police say Charle was shot three times and killed as she left work at the Project Renewal Homeless Shelter for Men.
Attorney Cesar Gonzales says some of the things that were part of today's hearing would not benefit his client. Gonzales says it's his job to protect his client.
The preliminary hearing is rescheduled for Wednesday.
