Morrisania feed shop to close after 70 years

Animal Feeds, Inc. announced that it will be closing its pet goods store in Morrisania after 70 years of serving the community.

The store is best known for its chicken feed and supplies for larger dogs. Many loyal customers called Animal Feeds, Inc. "a home away from home" and that they are heartbroken to see it go.

Owner Jack Horowitz says it's time for a change.

"It's just time to move on. I don't have as much energy as I had 20 years ago. There's some other things I want to do," Horowitz told News 12.

The store has been run in the Horowitz family for three generations. It's set to close in June and will be replaced by a pre-K day care facility.
