'It's My Park' event encourages park maintenance

New Yorkers rolled up their sleeves and got down to business as part of Saturday's "It's My Park" event across the five boroughs.

The city-wide effort was aimed at cleaning up neighborhood parks and helps teach young kids how to care for their green spaces, from fundraising to tree maintenance.

Participants say that it is important to help keep their community in good shape.

The event was sponsored by the Parks Department and the City Parks Foundation.
