New database lists burials of Civil War soldiers

A New York City cemetery has unveiled a massive database archiving Civil War soldiers.

The online system is part of a Memorial Day exhibit that opened Saturday.

The system features the names of thousands of Civil War soldiers, abolitionists and former slaves buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.

Officials say of the more than 500,000 people buried at the cemetery almost 5,000 were involved in the Civil War.
