A Bronx man behind a 1991 subway crash is in the hospital after being run down by a hit-and-run driver. 

According to police, Robert Ray was crossing the Grand Concourse at East 182nd Street at around 8:45 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a car. He was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital and is listed in serious condition. 

Authorities say Ray was a subway motorman who was drunk when he notoriously crashed his No. 4 train in Manhattan, causing it to derail near Union Square, killing five people. 

Meanwhile, the driver who hit Ray fled northbound on the Grand Concourse in a gray-colored Sedan. Investigators describe him as being Hispanic with tattoos.
