Bronx organizations receive nonprofit leadership awards

Two Bronx organizations brought home the gold and silver awards for nonprofit leadership at the first award ceremony held by the Harvard Business School of New York Community Partners.
Awards were given to organizations that displayed excellence in leadership and demonstration of best practices in nonprofits.
Receiving the gold award was Per Scholas, an organization that offers free high-quality technology job training, placement and career development opportunities to underserved communities. The silver award went to The Bronx River Alliance. The organization works to improve, protect and restore the Bronx River Corridor so that it can be a healthy recreational, educational and economic resource for the surrounding communities.
In addition to the awards, both organizations received money to invest into their programs. Per Scholas received $25,000 and the Bronx River Alliance received $10,000.
The bronze award went to Lower East Side Tenement Museum and New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project.
