Police: Man stole woman's cellphone on subway

Police are searching for a man who they say stole a woman's cellphone on the subway.

Police say that back on May 27, the suspect walked up to a 55-year-old woman on a southbound 1 train and asked for her iPhone.

When she refused, he allegedly grabbed it right out of her hands and fought with her, even threatening to punch her in the face.

Police say the woman eventually let go and the suspect then ran off at the West 231st Street station.

The woman was not injured.

Police say the suspect is about 38 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
