Walk aims to make young cancer patients feel like princesses

A local nonprofit group is helping children battling cancer feel like princes and princesses.
Residents participated on Sunday in the first Princess for a Lifetime Walk.
The organization Princess for a Lifetime was started by Tynesha Hendricks, whose daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer when she was just 4 years old.
Hendricks says during that time, her daughter Marisol, didn't want to take any medication and refused treatment. The only way to help her cope was to dress her up as a princess.
She says Marisol was in Montefiore Medical Center for three years, and pretending to be a princess helped ease her mind and spirit. Now the child has been in remission for six years, but Tynesha she wants to carry her daughter's wish to other children.
Hendricks says Sunday's walk is just one of many events her organization puts on, and she hopes the walk will be the first of many.
