Arrest made in stabbing death of young Bronx mom

The former boyfriend of a 22-year-old Bronx mother who was found stabbed to death in Wakefield was arraigned Monday in her murder.
Khiry Borden, of Brooklyn, was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the fatal stabbing of Jasmine Gonzalez.
Detectives have confirmed that Borden, 25, and Gonzalez have a son together. They say he was picked up Sunday at a housing shelter, just hours after Gonzalez was found near East 226th Street and Bronx Boulevard inside Bronx River Park.
The victim's sister, who asked not to be identified, says the two met at Gonzalez's home to discuss custody of their child. She says an argument led to them taking their conversation outside so they wouldn't wake their son. She says they began to walk down to the park, but only Borden came back.
The victim's sister confirmed that Gonzalez did not have custody of the toddler because she suffered from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
Borden is scheduled to be back in court on July 10.
