Suspect opens fire in Morris Park diner robbery

A Morris Park diner was robbed by a gun-wielding man during the Friday morning breakfast rush.
Police say a suspect robbed the Golden Eagle restaurant located at 975 Morris Park Ave. at around 7:30 a.m.
One witness tells News 12 that he saw the suspect get out of an SUV, kiss a woman goodbye and then casually walk into the restaurant to carry out the robbery.
Police say the man told diner workers that he was a food health inspector. The workers then brought him downstairs where investigators say he stole an unknown amount of cash from the basement office.
Officials say the suspect pistol-whipped a restaurant worker during the robbery. He also allegedly fired several shots, but no one was hit.
The restaurant has since reopened, but police say they are still investigating the robbery.
No arrests have been made.
