Construction along the Major Deegan Expressway began Thursday night, affecting the commutes for many drivers.
Currently, three northbound lanes have been reduced to two from exits 3 to 5.
The work is part of the Department of Transportation's $133 million "Major Deegan Reconstruction Project."
The Major Deegan is the only main highway that leads to Yankee Stadium, and many drivers use it to get by for day-to-day activities. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternate routes if using the roadway.
The project is expected to take about two years to complete.
