SUV crashes into East Tremont deli

Two people are recovering after an out-of-control SUV crashed into a deli in East Tremont.

The accident was caught on camera on East Tremont Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials say the BMW was backing out of a parking garage when the driver reversed into oncoming traffic, went up a sidewalk and through the shop window.

The deli owner's brother, identified as 34-year-old Nadem Gazali, was taken to the hospital. A delivery man also suffered cuts from the shattered window. The owner says the store suffered a lot of damage, but he's grateful no one was seriously hurt.

The driver remained at the scene.
