New report says subways getting slower

A new report says the subways are getting slower.

An audit by the state Comptroller's Office says that last year, on-time subway performance dropped 74 percent on weekdays and 81 percent on the weekends. That number is compared to a respective 81 and 85 percent decline in 2013.

The study looked at how often a train reached the end of its line within five minutes of the scheduled time.

"As we have explained many times, the best way to serve subway customers is to ensure even wait times between trains," said the MTA.
