Shelter pushes for more resources to care for stray cats

An organization in Van Nest says it's time for the Bronx to have its own city-run animal shelter.
Members of the Bronx Animal Shelter Endeavor, or BASE, have been taking care of more than 400 colonies of stray cats for years.
They say having a city-run shelter in the area will help protect the thousands of stray cats that run on the the loose.
BASE is looking to the mayor to build the shelter, equipped with spay and neuter vans.
The group says if nothing is done soon, the cats will continue to overpopulate and overrun the streets.
