Community role models welcome students to school

Elementary school students returning from summer break were welcomed back to the building Monday by some role models.

Students at the Boys Prep Bronx School in Soundview on Seward Avenue were welcomed back by fathers, grandfathers and uncles from the surrounding community.

The crowd included police officers, firemen, investment bankers and teachers.

The men were out to send a message to the students that education is important.

School officials say they wanted as many male role models as possible to come to show the returning boys how many great men make up their neighborhood.

A total of 225 students attend the school
