Judge denies lower bail for hit-and-run suspect

The suspect in a hit-and-run accident that killed a Bronx woman on Sept. 11 appeared in court Friday to ask the judge for lower bail.
Michael Moreno turned himself in earlier this week after Gabriela Aguilar-Vallinos was hit and killed on City Island Bridge while on her way home from work.
Moreno was charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and leaving the scene of an accident without reporting it.
Prosecutors accuse Moreno of driving double the speed limit and swerving in and out of traffic before the accident.
Moreno's lawyer argued that the judge's $500,000 bond is too high and requested it be reduced. The judge denied the move.
If convicted, Moreno faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in state prison.
His next court appearance is Oct. 26.
