Man dies after car crashes on Bruckner Expressway

A 29-year-old man died Wednesday morning after the car he was driving crashed on the Bruckner Expressway.
Friends say Wendell Cheeseboro and his 26-year-old passenger were headed home from work at around 3 a.m. They say he tried to make a right turn from Edgewater Road onto the expressway when he lost control. The car went over a small median and then collided with a larger one.
Police say speed could have been a factor. They say the driver was taken from the scene and later died at Jacobi Hospital.
The passenger, who was also taken to Jacobi Hospital, suffered a broken arm and leg.
Authorities closed off part of the expressway for nearly three hours Wednesday morning while they investigated the crash, but traffic is moving again.
Cheeseboro worked at the Chefs Warehouse in Hunt's Point. His boss told News 12 that he was "the best on the night shift."
