Residents, city discuss Jerome Ave. construction

City officials met with Jerome Avenue residents Wednesday to discuss the area's rezoning.

The city plans to build affordable housing in the neighborhood, but residents say they want guarantees that the rezoning will actually meet their needs.

Residents called for the new buildings to suit people with disabilities, single parents, veterans and the homeless.

They also want assurances that rents will not increase, and asked for the city to mandate that developers hire local labor for the project.
