Arrest made in attempted rape of 8-year-old

Police have arrested a homeless man accused in the attempted rape of an 8-year-old girl.

Authorities say 21-year-old Justin Ramirez came up behind the girl while she was trying to enter her Mount Hope apartment building last month. Ramirez restrained the girl before allegedly forcing his hands down her pants. The girl screamed and Ramirez ran off.

Detectives say Ramirez was high on synthetic marijuana, or K2, when he committed the crime.

The judge has granted a bail request of $75,000.

Ramirez is now facing various sexual abuse charges.
