Pugsley Creek Park gets $100K grant for safety

Officials announced Wednesday a $100,000 grant to increase safety at Pugsley Creek Park in Castle Hill.
A few months ago, there was a vicious attack in the park, prompting state Sen. Jeffrey Klein to push for security cameras and call boxes in the vicinity.
Christian Negron, 19, died a week after he was attacked by a group of teens in the park in July.
Negron's parents welcome the incoming safety measures.
"It's unfortunate that my son had to pay the price for something like this to take place, but I now know that it wasn't in vain," says his father, Anibal Negron. "Our community will once again be safe."
The proposed plan calls for 12 security cameras and seven call boxes along the trail by next summer.
