1 dead after attempting to rob off-duty NYPD officer during phony Craigslist deal in Queens

Police say a Brooklyn man is dead after attempting to rob an off-duty NYPD officer in Queens.
They say the off-duty police officer was responding to a Craigslist ad to buy a white BMW. Officials say when he got there, two men attempted to rob the officer at gunpoint. According to police, the two men forcibly removed the officer's wallet at gunpoint.
However, they say the officer pulled out his gun and fired, shooting one of the men in the leg and in the torso. They say the second suspect jumped into the BMW and drove away.
Police say EMS transported the man to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
They say officials did recover a black air pistol at the scene believed to be used by the suspect.
Police say the off-duty officer was taken to Manhasset Long Island Jewish Hospital for treatment and observation.
They are still looking for the second suspect.
The NYPD says the officer will not face any charges.
