Broken elevator causing problems for tenants

A broken elevator is causing issues for residents living in a Claremont apartment building.

Tenants say that the elevator at 1208 Franklin Ave. has been out of service since Dec. 23.

Resident Aileen Maldonado says she has knee issues and that she sometimes gives herself oxygen after trekking up flights of stairs.

"When I get to the last floor, I get up there and I cannot breathe," she says.

The building's superintendent tells News 12 that they are waiting on a company for a part to fix the elevator and will fix it as soon as possible.
