Water main break floods Morrisania streets

A water main break in Morrisania Sunday morning sent water shooting through the pavement and into the streets.

The break happened around 10 a.m. at 167th Street and Prospect Avenue. Water flooded out at least three blocks as it flowed under parked cars and into the basement of nearby P.S. 99.

Parishoners at a nearby church were also concerned for the safety of their elderly members, but no injuries have been reported.

Electricity was temporarily shut off to nearby buildings, but has since been turned back on.
