NYPD to debut high-tech building in Melrose

Melrose residents buzzed Wednesday after learning of the city's plan to build a new 40th Precinct building at the corner of East 149th Street and St. Ann's Avenue.
The change will replace the dilapidated Alexander Avenue precinct building with a state-of-the-art, $50 million green facility that includes a community room open to the public.
It will be the first such precinct building in New York.
Residents say the public room will help build up relations between residents and police officers while inviting people to get involved in the local community.
