Activities abound for kids during school break

For many students in New York, this week is mid-winter break.
Parents looking to keep their kids busy have a lot of options in the borough and across the city. Many are free.
Despite the rain, the Pelham Bay Nature Center in Pelham Bay Park conducted its coastal animal exploration program. The park plans to host a nature hike Wednesday at Crotona Nature Center.
The New York Botanical Garden also has spots open for its fifth-grade science camp this week.
Another option is the New York Historical Society's Superheroes in Gotham exhibit, with pay-as-you-wish admission on Friday.
The Bronx Zoo has a similar pay policy every Wednesday.
