New face trying to improve ER care at Jacobi Medical Center

Jacobi Medical Center is one of the busiest emergency rooms in the city, and Doctor Jeremy Sperling, who was named the new medical director of emergency services in July, is looking to make it the most efficient.
A big priority for Sperling and his staff is to expand urgent care to have a faster turnaround and allow for patients to have easier access to care.
"Our long term strategy for our urgent care space is to have patients identified immediately in triage, immediately into one of our patient care rooms where they would get triage in the room, registered in the room and see a provider all within a short period of time," Sperling said.
The busy emergency room will treat close to 130,000 patients every year, and it's the doctor's goal to keep improving the quality of care the patients receive.
