Family mourns Rony Mejia, killed in hit-and-run on Pelham Parkway

Family and friends gathered to mourn the man who was killed in a hit-and-run last weekend.

Police say 26-year-old Rony Mejia was crossing Pelham Parkway when he was struck by two livery cab drivers. As the first driver was waiting for help to arrive, a second cab struck Mejia and fled the scene.

Mejia's funeral was held at Community Protestant Church on East Gun Hill Road.

His family is asking for the driver responsible to come forward and take responsibility. They say Mejia was set to attend Bronx Community College next year as a business major.

Mejia's family also says he was helping his girlfriend take care of her three children before his death.
