Opening arguments begin in trial against NYPD Officer Jose Ramos, accused of robbery, transporting drugs

Opening arguments began today in the trial against a police officer accused of robbery.

Officer Jose Ramos is accused of using his two Bronx barber shops to sell marijuana. He is also accused of robbery and transporting drugs.

Ramos is charged with several counts of attempted robbery and grand larceny.

Today's case is just one of many against the defendant.

Ramos is also accused of a murder-for-hire plot, and was one of a dozen officers indicted in a NYPD ticket-fixing probe in 2012.
