Kosher deli Delicious on Lydig in Pelham Parkway could face closure

Loyal customers are worried that a popular kosher deli in the Pelham Parkway area could be forced to close its doors.
Delicious on Lydig has drawn a following with its fresh food and friendly atmosphere. It services a large population of widowed and elderly residents, some of whom stop by every day. But late rent payments and slow sales could spell the end of the eatery.
"It's unique because it's the only kosher shop open in the Bronx outside of Riverdale," says David Edelstein, executive director of the Jewish Community Council of Pelham Parkway.
The Jewish Community Council has been providing assistance to the Lydig Avenue deli. Even still, it has struggled to stay afloat.
A GoFundMe.com crowd-funding campaign has been set up in the hopes of raising $30,000 to keep Delicious on Lydig open.
