City Councilman Andy King bestowed the first 12th District Educator of Influence Award on his former teacher Lucille Nelson Richards Thursday.

The retired Bronx teacher reunited with students from a half-century ago when she returned to her former P.S. 41 classroom for the first time in years.

Former students gave a warm welcome to Lucille Nelson Richards. They say she had a positive influence on their lives decades ago, when they were first-graders.

King says he plans to recognize additional teachers in the future.
