Bronx Career and College Preparatory High students prepare for life after graduation
As students around the country graduated high school Wednesday, an underprivileged group of seniors in Claremont prepared to become the first members of their families to go on to college.
"It makes me proud, because it's been a long journey," one soon-to-be graduate told News 12. "I'm also setting an example for my sisters."
A new study from Johns Hopkins University shows low-income and minority students are behind their peers when it comes to high school graduation rates — but they're catching up.
Officials say the entire graduating class of 2017 at Bronx Career and College Preparatory High School will be going to college, trade school or joining the military.
