Best of the Bronx: Woman awarded for volunteer service

Posted: Updated:

A Bronx woman was awarded for her volunteer service at the Hebrew Home at Riverdale.

Arlyne Kirsh, 79, received the 'True Blue volunteer' award presented by staff members for her dedicated commitmit.

Kirsh says her husband was a resident at the home for over eight years until he passed away last year.

Since then, Kirsh has been coming back to the home to visit the family friends on the floor where her husband lived.

She says the people at the home are like her second family.

Employees at the home say you don't have to have a family member at the home to volunteer.

They encourage anyone to sign up.
