Experts advise parents to talk to kids about Manchester attack

Experts say it's important for parents to start conversations with their children about the terror attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England.
While suicide bombings and terror attacks can be difficult topics to tackle with youngsters, experts say the best advice for parents is to just start asking them age-appropriate questions.
Nitin Toteja, director of the psychiatry emergency room at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, says parents should ask their children what worries or concerns they have about the attack and other open questions. Then, depending on what the children say, he says it's OK for parents to share their own anxieties, as well.
Toteja says it's also important that parents do not become too overprotective and that it's better to have an honest discussion.
Experts add that parents should keep an eye on children and teenagers who become obsessed with watching images of the attack on TV or online.
