Bronx community pushes to rename street after rapper
Bronx community members are pushing for a street to be renamed after a legendary rapper from the borough.
The group is hoping to rename 163rd Street after rapper Big Pun, who passed away 17 years ago.
A mural currently stands just off East 163rd and Rogers Place honoring the first Puerto Rican rapper to sell more than a million albums.
Chris Rivers, Pun's son, says he supports the initiative to get the street renamed after his dad.
City Councilman Rafael Salamanca says if the residents and the community board supports it, he will take the street co-naming before City Council.
