THE BRONX -

The Atlantic hurricane season is officially here and city officials want to make sure residents are prepared for when a storm hits.

The city launched a new campaign called Know Your Zone. Residents are now able to go online to find out their zone and get tips on how to stay safe.

Officials say it is important for residents to know if they live in one of the six evacuation zones.

The city also has a site where residents can sign up and get the latest information and alerts sent to their cell phones.

News 12 has recently updated to a brand new version of our iOS and Android apps.  If you don't have auto updates enabled on your devices, head to the App Store or Google Play Store to update to the latest version.  This will ensure you keep getting up-to-date local news, traffic and weather information.
