Homeowners want access to private road in Allerton

A group of Allerton homeowners is trying to save their parking spaces, saying that plans for an apartment building would block them from using their driveways.
A gravel path used to be on White Plains Road in the 1920s before the street was relocated. For years, neighbors were able to use the pathway to drive in and out of their driveways in the back of their homes.
The city is planning a 14-story apartment complex for the back lot. Neighbors say the blueprint calls for their driveways to be fenced in to make room for apartment garages.
Residents say they bought their homes years back with the convenience of having a usable driveway. There's also an adult home that uses the old roadway, with vans coming and going frequently. Neighbors also worry about what impact the complex would have on that.
News 12's attempts to reach property owner Anna Development LLC were unsuccessful.
Neighbors say they hope for a mutual agreement with the property owner that will allow them to continue using the private road.
