NYPD, Make-A-Wish help boy fulfill dream of becoming officer

NYPD officers in Patrol Borough Brooklyn North and the Make-A-Wish Foundation helped a 5-year-old boy from Brooklyn fulfill his dream.
Eric Cao, of Brooklyn's Sunset Park section, suffers from intestinal failure and was given an opportunity to make a wish through the foundation. That wish is to be a police officer.
The first order of business for Lt. Cao was checking on some paperwork with Assistant Chief Jeffrey Maddrey. Next up was a police escort to Cao's first precinct visit of the day, at the 83rd Precinct.
That visit began with roll call before Cao checked in with each officer, making sure their uniforms were up to par.
Then Cao was off to his first call -- an auto stripping in progress. The suspects took off as Cao closed in, but they were quickly apprehended, handcuffed and put in the back seat of a police cruiser.
Cao and his family say they are grateful to everyone involved in making the day so special.
